Puppy
mills are the cruel hidden side to the pet industry. Most
dogs sold in pet stores come from puppy mills, intensive
farms where dogs are kept in crowded, often filthy conditions.
It is legal for a puppy mill owners to keep a dog in the
space the size of a dishwasher for its entire life, and
for many breeding dogs this is the sad reality. While dogs
who are companion animals enjoy some protections from abuse,
dogs on puppy mills have very few such protections from
abuse.
If you are seeking
to bring a dog, cat, rabbit, or any other animal in your
home, please remember this: NEVER BUY, ALWAYS ADOPT. Adopting
not only helps you avoid supporting the puppy mill industry
(and farms that breed cats and rabbits in similarly intensive
conditions),
