Mercy for Animals Exposes Shocking Cruelty on a Pennsylvania Pig Farm

At a press conference in Philadelphia on Tuesday, Mercy for Animals released undercover video from an investigation of a Pennsylvania pig farm supplying Hatfield Meats. The investigation found pigs - intelligent, sensitive creatures - confined their whole lives in gestation crates and slapped with metal spiked bars; piglets tossed around like footballs and castrated without anaesthesia; and other cruelties.

You can find out more about the investigation at www.mercyforanimals.org, or view some of the news coverage by clicking here.

Humane League Now Green Office Certified!

HLP is happy to announce that we are now Green Office Certified! Among other things, the vast majority of our paper and envelopes are now made from 100% post-consumer fibers; paper is re-used whenever possible; our printed materials (fliers and newsletters) are made of about 50% recycled materials; we purchase only compact flourescent bulbs for lighting; and 100% of our electricity comes from wind power. Our basic paper supplies are now coming from Green Line Paper, a local company providing 100% recycled office supplies with free bi-weekly deliveries to Philadelphia - we encourage you to check them out for your or your office's needs. Remember, conserving resources doesn't just protect trees, rivers and soil, it protects the homes of countless wild animals as well.
