Big Veg Outreach Event and Dinner This Saturday, Featuring
Jon Camp of Vegan Outreach!
This Memorial Day weekend, let’s remember the billions of animals suffering
in factory farms – and gather to learn more about how we can more effectively
take action and advocate for them!

Please
join us for a SPECIAL event this coming Saturday with a visit and talk by Jon
Camp of the incredible organization Vegan Outreach! Jon will be sharing
stories from his many years traveling to college campuses around the country,
distributing booklets on factory farming and the benefits of going veg to over a hundred thousand people every year! The
event will take place at the all-Vegetarian Singapore Restaurant, with a delicious
(optional) dinner following Jon’s talk! We’ll also be discussing ways that
YOU can get involved with veg outreach in the
greater Philadelphia area, including at some very major events in the
coming weeks! This special dinner and talk will be preceded by a veg outreach session in Center City for all who can make it!
This
Saturday, please remember the animals and join us for this very important and
inspiring event!

should take foie gras off
the menu now! PLEASE take one minute to call Supper restaurant and
email Supper’s owners, and ask them to do the right thing and take foie gras off the menu! Make
sure to let them know that you will plan to patronize their restaurant as
soon as foie gras is
gone!

Lab Rat Update!
Thankfully, after spreading word far and wide about the plight of 70 lab rats
set to be killed at a local University lab, emails have begun streaming in
from compassionate people willing to adopt some of
these sweet and friendly animals that have up until now spent
their life in boredom and isolation. However, HLP will be facing significant
transport and care expenses as we pick up and distribute these rats to their
many adoptive homes around the east coast. Please help us to save these
70 lives by donating to help support the rescue!

Animal-Friendly
Media
Media Titan Oprah has GONE VEGAN – for three weeks, anyway! Oprah has begun a
three-week dietary cleanse free of any animal products, and is blogging about it on her website here ( http://tinyurl.com/3zm346 )!
Oprah
notes in her blog, “How can you say you're trying
to spiritually evolve, without even a thought about what happens to the
animals whose lives are sacrificed in the name of gluttony?
So this 21-day cleanse gives me a chance to think about it differently and
see what my attachments are to certain kinds of foods—and what I'm willing to
do to change…”
Have
friends or family members who are Oprah fans? Send them this story, and encourage them to check back
at Oprah’s blog as she notes her experiences eating
cruelty-free! Be sure to include a couple handy web links when sharing this
story with a friend, such as www.vegweb.com
for thousands of vegan recipies and www.chooseveg.com for some of the
reasons why and how Oprah’s going veg!
