The
Humane League of Philadelphia is a 501(c)3 animal advocacy non-profit
based in Philadelphia, PA. We campaign for farm, lab, and companion
animals through outreach, education, campaigns, and rescue. HLP
was incorporated in 2005 and currently has several thousand members,
predominantly in the greater Philadelphia area. We encourage anyone
interested in working for a better world for animals to become
a member by signing up for e-list or mailing list, joining us
at events, or donating to support our work.
While animals
may differ from us in a number of ways, like human beings they
feel pain, feel pleasure, have desires and instinctual drives
that seek satisfaction, and like us all animals desire to live
and to be free. The Humane League of Philadelphia works to achieve
tangible gains for animals this week, this month, and this year
through our campaigns and educational outreach. Realizing that
the greatest amount of animal cruelty is generated through systematic
practices rather than isolated acts of cruelty, and realizing
that farmed animals represent the overwhelming majority of animals
that are abused and killed in this country, our primary focus
is on farmed animal issues.
If this is
your first time visiting us, we strongly recommend you check out
our "Learn About" and "Humane TV" sections
to read and view more about some of the institutionalized cruelties
affecting animals in Pennsylvania and throughout the nation.
